    Description

A terrific piece of vintage banking ephemera - The Hanover Bank Of The City Of New York Statement Of Condition September 30, 1901. Measures approx. 5-1/4 ins. x 6-5/8 ins. and opens as shown. Inside pages show the bank’s Resources and Liabilities on one side and lists the bank’s Directors on the other. The Directors are a “Who’s Who” of New York business at the time and include Vernon H. Brown - longtime NY agent for Cunard Steamship Line and William Rockefeller - co-founder and President of Standard Oil of New York. Most notable is Isidor Straus - co-owner of Macy’s who was lost in the sinking of RMS Titanic along with his wife Ida. His memorial plaque can still be seen in the NY flagship store. This item is in sound condition with a bend to upper right corner and a tiny bit of rubbing to lower right. Also a small mark at the edge of the rear panel just below the corner bend shaped like the end of a paper clip but I don’t think that’s what it is. Could just be a watermark in the paper. Also some light soil and an old thumbprint on the front panel. Most notable is a horizontal crease across the center of the item. The first three images are high resolution scans and the remainder are photos to give the fullest sense possible about the condition of the item. A unique item covering many areas. Questions gladly answered.
