THE ITEM DESCRIPTION:
This is a rare piece of ephemera, an early 1930s premium folder picturing the many gifts that were available in exchange for Bournville Cocoa coupons. When folded it measures 6” by 3 1/4” & it consists of 8 double sided panels. The available gifts are quite varied & include stockings, jewelry, dishes, dolls, camera, wireless crystal set, toys & much more. The most valuable gift or premium(in today's market) would be the Mickey Mouse lithographed tin squeeze toy drummer made in Germany circa 1932 & available for 6 coupons. Note that the pictured toy has 5 fingers & a full mouth of teeth, design elements only found on the earliest Mickey Mouse German tin toys. The folder is complete & shows edge wear. All panels are still firmly connected but there is some minor separation at the top of 2 of the panels on the fold line. Isn't it odd that the Mickey Mouse toy could be had for the fewest coupons of all the items featured in 1932? Only 6 coupons needed for the tin toy while, for example, a nondescript aluminum tea kettle required 36 coupons & a plain alarm clock needed 47 coupons.
