1939 NEW YORK WORLD'S FAIR ORIGINAL SCRAP BOOK FILLED WITH MOVIE STAR CLIPPINGS
- 1939 Saalfield Pub. Co. 11" x 15.5". Softbound.
Beautifully illustrated cover design featuring the iconic Trylon & Perisphere structures (the modernistic symbols of the fair).
Packed with over 60 pages of movie star-related photos from the period. Many are the popular "rotogravure" color magazine photos of the 1939-1940 era.
Notably, several pages feature 1939 "Gone With The Wind" movie stars.
Obviously, some cimema fan took a lot of pride in accumulating this movie star assortment.
A great 1939-40 movie reference with the World's Fair cover as added provenance.
Condition on all is considered FAIR to POOR with misc. surface/stain/edge wear. Misc. pencil/pen markings on cover and content. Cover has scattered edge tears (largest being 1.25") with 8" spine edge separation. Misc. surface creasing with extensive page brittleness & edge tears/chipping on inner pages. Many of the pages are loose from booklet. Cover & inner graphics are still very bright, bold and attractive.
Overall, a well used period piece with outstanding eye appeal. Despite obvious defects & page brittleness, we feel this is still a very displayable example by most standards (see photos).
This book would make a wonderful NEW YORK WORLD'S FAIR display for the discriminating MOVIE MEMORABILIA enthusiast. On a condition code scale of 1 to 10, the above listed item(s) rated - (6-5).
